· There are many humans who just are incapable of passing their time। Time weights heavy on their hands. They know very well that life is very short, but even the time of that short life seems unpleasing to them. They have no idea of what to do. Let us use our free time in a good way. Let us try to find the company of the guru and the gods, and in this free time, in the company of great souls, let us produce nice thoughts.
· We find many people that, after meeting them, we begin to have nice experiences. When a human begins to keep himself in those experiences all the time then he leaves behind the Gita, the Ramayana, the Quran, the Bible, fasting and worshipping and all such things. His mentality becomes as: ‘‘No need fast, no one to salute, throw into the water all the books.’’
· In the same way that games and diamonds are very rare, so also saints and Mahatmas are very rare. There is no difference between a saint, poor guest at the door and a bigger. They are all the same, and they are all very poor. They are so poor that often they do not even have any words to give you. Even then they keep given their pure words as blessings to people. They speak nice words. If sometime they happen to sold you or admonish you out of worry, then know that they have used their tongue to give you something, the same tongue with which they have recited the name of god millions of times. Is this then not their kindness?
· The whole of human life gets spent in which deeds. There are very few people who stay away from these and conduct new research on their life, who live in a new way. It is people like these who understand the reality and also achieve it. Such people are known as high-born people.
· Those who are high- born, their love, affection and respect is not superficial. It, in fact, is like that chain of iron which cannot be broken. They hold you with their strong chain of affection which does not break their whole life long.
· Those who are born in a nice lineage, those who are endowed with nice cultural traits, they never give their advice in the ashram or on the occasion of somebody’s marriage, or in the planning of somebody else’s work. If they can do something they actually do it to help them; otherwise they leave the place quietly.
· If we rise from the state of being demigods to the state of being saints and mahatmas then we can become a path for somebody. We can become their way. Not a guide of the path, but the path itself, walking on which someone can take the sinking boat of their life across.
· Any administration or project is conducted from one central place. Only one person is deputed to do that. Crowds are for violent deeds. Only one person lays the foundation.
· Many kinds of strange magical enchantments pass through our lives. If on seeing or hearing them you become spellbound or enamoured by them, then you will become separated from yourself. You will no longer remain within yourself. You will end up becoming dependent on someone else, you will become a puppet in the hands of the other, and you will have to keep wagging your tail before the other.
· A wish and experienced enemy is better than an ignorant friend. A wise enemy knows that things have happened because of the circumstances and someday these can change. But the ignorant friend can set fire to everything.
· Our actions are so base that we should feel guilty to compare them even to the actions of animals. It is insulting to them to compare thus, for they are more self- controlled than we are. Their actions are more time- and epoch bound than those of human beings. They live collectively and live with great self-discipline. They do fight, but their fight does not turn into a long lasting feud. They do not maintain that violent form at all times. But who are in the human form go so far away from human nature itself!
· They savagery that is within us, or the savagery that we end up doing the less time that we let it stay with us, the better we can make use of our time. If we cannot do this, then our whole life will be spent wagging our tails or carrying burdens just to fill our bellies like beasts, and we will not be able to make a history for ourselves.
· One who is stable, he has peace; he has happiness, he has respite, he has great dignity. In opposition to this, instability gives eagerness, terror, restlessness, troubles and many kinds of problems, and humans suffocate in them, and they die while thinking about the past. They are unable to fulfil the promise they made to themselves at the time of their birth.
· You must have seen in your own life that sometimes you become very polite and humble, very kind and very moral, and that at other times you are filled with the exact opposite qualities. This could be an effect of the kind of food and water in which you partake and the environment [and company] in which you live. Sometimes you become very healthy and free from all desire and sometimes you get sick from many afflictions of the world. That is why you should remain very careful about your time and the company you keep, so that you may be able to make a history of your own.
· Whatever little destiny provides for you, a person living with contentment in that is a great person. He is a saintly person. He is later remembered by person. People who rise on the strength of godless grandeur are not remembered by anybody. Pigeons excrete on their palaces and castles.
· A demigod has no sound. You must have seen it yourself. Saints, Mahatmas, seekers and spiritually realized people know this secret. One who knows this mysterious secret keeps all kinds of mysterious spiritual powers within him. Him power of making thing s happen by just wishing becomes very strong; whatever he desires, happens. It is not as if it happens only to world relinquishing saints. Even householders experience this. Their power make desired things happen also becomes very strong. If you keep an eye on yourself, if you remain very alert and self- controlled and your search remains right and balanced, then even you can get this power. Whatever you desire will be fulfilled. As soon as you desire something, it will happen, in the same way that the elephant was saved from the crocodile when he said ‘‘Go’’ [the name Govind, a name of krishna] and the crocodile was killed. He did not even have to say the whole name of Govind completely. ‘‘Vind’’ was never mentioned. The day you gain this knowledge, that day your search will be over.
· I pray to that supreme soul, to that Mother goddess and to that god that they give us the strength to spread this peace and happiness to everyone. May be able to free from bondage those whom we respect and may we become free ourselves.
· All the people sitting here of the Sarveshwari family are accomplished craftsmen. You people are such craftsmen that you can sculpt whatever forms you want. But your hands remain tied. Your talent and your speech remain stifled. Your mind is under such stress that you cannot do anything. You are not empty. Your mind is not empty; you cannot say anything through your speech and your hands have been tied tightly. You are craftsmen. You have all those instruments in your hands in with which you can sculpt many forms in your likeness, and have even sculpted them in the part.
· There is no home where people have not grown old, where people have never died, and where births have not taken place. Everybody knows this truth. But it is a special trait of ours that we do not even pay attention towards it. We do not give it the benefit even of a glance. It’s okay. It’s better if you don’t if you don’t look back towards the path. But the situations that prevail in the present are definitely going to pounce upon us. We do not know about our future; it is tomorrow comes every day. It does not go anywhere, friends. That is why, keeping all these in mind, we believe in the mantra, God and Guru, and try to achieve them in our life. How do we do that? By remaining self-controlled for nine days like an ascetic. Yes—controlling our senses, we look for that concentration which harbours everything, friends. But if after achieving everything we remain senseless, then what is it? At that time we need only solitude. Those who remain deprived of this, their life tilts towards old age. They embrace death and losing their senses, they sleep forever in the earth.
· We always benefit from approaching saints and seeing them. If we go to them alone, and our desires, wishes, jealousies, envies, attachments and ego do not accompany us, and then we achieve an immeasurable wealth. But if we go to them lugging the baggage of our untrue thoughts and feeling then we remain deprived of achieving anything. Become that saintmahapurash thinks, ‘‘this person is already staggering under his own loads; if i also weigh him down something, he might even die. He may lose much.’’ And so they do not give you anything.
· The light of good behaviour lights up the world too.
· When you bow your head in front of your demigod, Mother Goddess, great saints or Mahatmas, then this humility of yours takes you towards greatness. If instead you keep standing with your hands gripped behind your back, this means you are hostile, that you want to attack them. When you put both your palms forward it symbolizes that you very humble, very patient, and you are not carrying any arms. Your folded hands indicate giving up of all worldly arms, and they do not inspire one towards troubles and sorrows. They also inspire others to also bow their head, fold their hands, move towards greatness, and become peaceful like you.
· When you become very polite and humble with your elders and respected ones, or with those who are lesser than you or neglected, don’t you derive satisfaction? It provides great satisfaction. At that time even harsh words said to those dependent on you also provide satisfaction because words hide the feeling of their welfare. ‘‘love in the heart, and harsh words in the mouth’’. You have unfathomable love in your heart; then only must you be using harsh words on your children grandchildren, workers and dependents. You are under no obligation to say all this to someone you are not concerned about, and you cannot even say it.
· The use of harsh words or admonishment used by our respected people is an exercise in their love. We should not become afraid by this, nor should we leave our patience. By using such words with us they want to do great justice with us, not to forgive us at that time out of their kindness so that in future we may be beset by even bigger troubles.
· What will we do by becoming big? What does someone with a big family do, or one with many children and grandchildren or one with many friends and relatives? It is just like a herd of sheep which is taken to a nice grazing ground for that purpose. It is then made to graze. But that herd of sheep stinks. Donkeys are domestic: they live in villages, amongst human beings, and carry their loads. Their offspring also carry load. All their lives they carry loads. A tiger lives in the jungle, and will stay without food, but will remain along. But he is the king of his jungle. He does not carry anybody’s weight. He does not wander from door to door. If he finds something, fine; otherwise it’s also okay. God will provide for food. One who has a life like this does not have any sorrow in the great wilderness where nobody is really around. Even if he cries, in the forest there’s nobody is really around. Even if he cries, in the forest there’s nobody to hear him. But even then, he is the tiger, and within himself he is king.
· It is said that the company of a foolish person is a house of sorrow.
· Friends! We who are young should also try to journey on foot at least once. Whenever we walk on foot from here to Banaras, or here to Mughalsarai, or here to the gate, we should have such careful vision that nobody gets hurt under our feet, which can also lead to our stumbling and falling. If you stumble, that (the one you stumble on) has borne so many kicks by now that it must have turned to stone. Even then we should keep our eyes open, friends. Because of these open eyes and their respective purposes, people find other people with similar temperaments and go amidst them, through the medium of this Sarveshwari Samooh, which is a very small, simple institution. Not even an institution, regard it like a kids –play akin to:
‘‘The make-believe in play actually happens. One who plays the real game is one in a million.’’ Perhaps a time will return again. All the largest rivers – all have their tiny source, like a little seed.
· Friends, we are poor. We will also remain poor. We do not want to become enormous, nor do we want to be expunged either. We want to remain in a simple, normal way. We do not want to become too big and then have to listen to our ego. But if we are expunged, then what will remain here? Nothing. That is why purity of the blood is essential, friends. Every species has its characteristics. The species can go bad.
· Even I know what happens in the offerings of death rituals. Friends, that does not have as much importance as the importance of remembering those people bone by, those people who are no longer here but whom we remember, for we are like them, and this ‘Foundation Day’ is an occasion to remember them. ‘‘The son perpetuates the father.’’ We are in their form. We are in their form. We keep remembering them.
